Our main concept for LCC's Photography Catalogue was to devise a concept and system that was controlled by the students work itself. This system was controlled by the most diverse, yet un-connected system of ordering; format.

The catalogue was designed to be used as an act of reference for the students work rather than that of a photography book. We devised a system of two 'hanging lines' which ran through the book at the top and middle of the pages (Fig. 2) From here, the content would hang down to create a template for the dynamic range of content to be slotted in.

Using only 5 point sizes in a single cut of Univers, the typography takes a back seat from the main focus of the students work.

The work is seperated into two chapters, with written essays at the front, middle and end separating them.

All of the text and essays are printed on an uncoated, off-white recycled stock (Fig. 2) and the students work are printed on a high-gloss, aqueous coated white stock for accurate colour reproduction.

Work is ordered in these two chapters by the works format and size. At the beginning of the book, the images are short landscape works, going down through to portraits and then back up again in a 'V' like motion. The book then breaks for the middle essay and then repeats into the second chapter.
